August is here, when many Barcelonans take their long-awaited vacations. But it is also the month when certain Barcelona neighborhoods celebrate their largest festivals. This is the case for the Fiestas de Sants-Montjuïc, an event which echoes through the entire city and attracts more visitors every year. It is not to be missed in 2019! Every year, the Fiestas de Sants-Montjuïc take place at the end of August, starting on the 24th, Saint Bartholomew’s Day, patron of what used to be known as Villa de Sants. It’s the largest day of the festival. The day kicks off with an offering of flowers to the distinguished patron at the Church of Santa María de Sants.
At this point, the neighborhood puts on several days of celebrations, but the spirit and energy never flags. This festival’s schedule leaves little space for boredom, being so jam-packed with endless popular traditions.
